Lots of Painkillers

Monday night I went out for some much needed and beloved, kid-free grocery shopping. I was SO excited to be out by my lonesome that cruising the aisles of all things food felt like walking the runway for Ralph Lauren.

Welllll, after blissfully strutting through each section and grabbing items of food, I got to the check out line only to realize that in pure "Kristin style" I forgot my wallet. Uggh! With a few choice curse words running through my head I trucked out to my Mini to run home for my plastic card.

Soooo....on my simple drive back to the island, suddenly out of nowhere a jack of an arse turns left right as I am strolling through my GREEN GREEN light... and as I go to honk my horn - Bam!

Severely broken wrist, hyperventilating, ambulance, fire truck, really nice people trying to help me and keep me from completely freaking out all followed.

Forward 2 days later (today)...

The pain from my wrist and hand has produced more tears and ugly weeping cries than I thought possible. The throbbing, stabbing pain has made me say more than once that a broken wrist is a lot (and I mean A LOT) worse than childbirth!

A simple trip to the grocery ended with a four-day stent of pain medicine and my bottom glued to a hospital bed.

Surgery is scheduled at 12:56 today.

Prayers for a speedy recovery and for my wonderful family who are picking up the bunches and bunches of slack with all my kiddos would be much appreciated!!

Don't be deceived the weird smile on my face is due to mucho, mucho painkillers.

Ps. Funny how In the midst of it all, the thing that I was most worried about was how the lunches for my boys were going to be made for school the next morning, especially because there was NO food in the house. Well, Thank God for best friends who make two gluten-free lunches at 11PM and deliver them to their classrooms the next day!

  3. Oh my goodness, I am so sorry!! This is so awful story but could totally happen to any of us, particularly myself since I have made it my life's goal to see how many times I can get alllllll my groceries and then realize there is no wallet while I'm in the checkout line. I cannot imagine that happening on my way to get my wallet! Prayers for you and your fam!
